tripping under the city lights

Out in the city light where our shadows fade away
Downtown at the movies, paradise and cigarettes
How many tickets to my house can you afford?
And how many records do you think you’ll sing along?
(I hope they are enough to follow me for a while)
Music just keeps our hearts closer all the time

Your comments to my pictures left me full of dreams about
The great trip to those places we’ve heard from boy scouts
Or souvenirs hidden on some empty shelves back to your old house
Your sister’s quite a traveler for such short age

Well you know I’ll be heartbroken for a while
That’s an issue that we hate to talk about
And I know you’re still sad about that outrageous girl
It won’t hurt to think of her as she is expecting so
She will come at you crying and what else can you do
Maybe you’ll find the one at the very end

Love outside your shield put your heart to rent
We can still walk at night chatting about
The latest movie with new director’s cut
We can still Hug and hide ‘cause no one has to tell
That surely one day we’ll be apart,
and that these last weeks have been in hell

I care of you innocently you’re my hero and my mate
I love you ‘cause you stay here and you’re a friend of mine

And how many disappointments do all of us expect to bear?
Anyone we’ll be less lovesick day by day
And we can still have fun talking about 1985
(Music was better at that time)

Maybe you’ll rebirth to see those bands like you’ve always dreamed
Radio, fruit punch, Christmas special on TV
If you do so kiss the screen for me
If you do so kiss the screen for me
